Groveway Community Group (GCG) is a community-rooted nonprofit serving one of Roswell’s oldest African American neighborhoods.
Founded in 1943, Groveway was created by residents who came together to strengthen their community and address shared challenges through collective action. What began as informal gatherings rooted in faith, dialogue, and mutual care grew into a lasting organization committed to improving the well-being of Groveway families across generations.
Today, Groveway Community Group continues that tradition of service. Led by individuals deeply connected to the neighborhood, our work is relational—not transactional. We build trust through consistency, respond thoughtfully to real needs, and remain accountable to the community we serve.
Rooted in legacy and rising in togetherness, Groveway exists to strengthen people, preserve history, and protect the future of the place we call home.

● Our History and Legacy
Groveway Community Group was born out of a simple but powerful truth: when a community organizes, it can shape its own future.
Long before formal incorporation, African American residents of Roswell gathered to strengthen, unify, and improve life in the Grove Way area. Rooted in faith, mutual care, and collective action, those early assemblies laid the foundation for what would become Grove Way Community Organization in 1943.
For more than eight decades, that same spirit of resilience and responsibility has guided Groveway’s work.

A Movement Organized
If We Can Help Somebody
Grove Way Community Organization was formally founded, giving structure and voice to years of grassroots community organizing in Roswell’s Black neighborhood.

1952
A Place to Call Our Own
The Grove Way Community Center was dedicated, providing a permanent home for meetings, youth programs, and collective community action.

1961
Rebuilding After Violence
After the Center was set on fire twice, residents rebuilt with unity and resolve, reaffirming their commitment to protect their community space.

1980
A Foundation Secured
The organization was incorporated in the State of Georgia, establishing formal leadership and securing its place as a lasting civic institution.

Today
A Living Legacy
Now operating from 89 Grove Way, Groveway Community Group continues serving families through programs, events, scholarships, and community advocacy.
